Sidner Larson Says
I aspire to be a man of letters, in the tradition of Edmund Wilson or Lionel Trilling, with no undue influence from any aspect of "the company" to which we are usually beholden. I also aspire to understand the subculture of midwest dirt track racing, which I find to be one of the most vibrant and strongly grounded communities of which I am aware. I have also labored in the vineyards of higher education for practically all my professional career, and have developed a particular interest in issues of diversity and how those issues can be collated with university policies and practices. This interest and fifteen years experience in shared governance have given me tools by which to analyze university policy, translate individual, unit, and administrative needs into issues, and find ways to mediate between them all. "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. . . ."
